Artwork Information (continued) Artist Statement - A detailed story about the work for viewer's understanding. Skull Collection is the rework of old artworks I created over 5 years ago for singer/ songwriter Jacob Lee. This re-imagination of previous artworks was a great opportunity to self-actualize as an artist. Not only was I able to appreciate the progress made thus far, this rework exercise allowed me to make perfect these art pieces like no other before. I was able to take each artwork and elevate it to a whole new level. The goal with this series was to create a visual experience which incites a real emotional response through the ambiance created in each art piece. I was able to upcycle my artworks and bring them to life with my recently acquired knowledge of Animation and professional Software. Additionally with the help of a talented Namibian musician, I was able to incorporate music and soundscapes to create a unique mood and atmosphere for each piece. This particular piece; Neon Orchid merges two very strong visual elements, the Purple Orchids and Neon Halo, both being heavily metaphorical. The choice of Purple Orchids is a bold analogy to death and the return to nature after one's passing. However, the flowers' gentle sway in the wind is oddly reassuring and peaceful. This contrast between the orchids' appearance and their movement allows me to accentuate the complex mood of this piece. Additionally, the Neon Halo portrays themes of death in a modern context. With the rise of the internet, no one is truly forgettable. We will ultimately all leave a mark of our lives, since photos, tweets, music, data, Art,…are forever and keep our memory alive well after our time.
