Link to show the production of the creation (if any): Page 2 of 3 Renaissance is a mixed-media painting that uses accidental strokes to achieve uniqueness. A creator achieves originality through experimentation where no one can plagiarize. My work is inspired by the natural formation of Mauritius, also known as Dodo Island. I conveyed our famous oceans and beautiful landscapes through bright colours. The idea of sperm and ovules represent the concept of birth and creation as well as planets to show the astrological beliefs of the Hindu community; where good planet alignment relates to positivity. Extensive research was required to develop something original, given the challenging nature of the theme "Heaven was copied after Mauritius". To emphasize on the development, I used bright colours as in Mauritius, we are exposed to these colours which represent the Sun, Sea and Sand that surround our beautiful island. I wanted to show the creation of Mauritius through human fertility; the fusion of sperm with the ovule. The ovules also represent our planets as Hindus believe that good planet alignment impacts fetal growth. Paradoxically, I conceptualized the above to give an impression of how Mauritius was formed and also showing a theme of constant evolution, hence the name "Renaissance". Today, while other countries compete for power and prosperity, the island of Mauritius stands alone. Media used ; Varnish, glue and acrylic paint were used to create this artwork.
