Most of us step out of our homes with this blanket of security properly affixed to our noses and mouths. Link to show the production of the creation (if any): Page 2 of 3 https://www.instagram.com/p/CQDk3mShDIg/ Synthetic Air is an ode to the new habits and behaviours we had to adopt in the midst of the devastating Covid-19 Pandemic. It pertains more specifically to masks. My aim here is to bring the viewer's attention to the changes caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Everyday, before stepping out into the world ,we put up the only armor we have against Covid-19; a mask. A mask is made of a particular blend of synthetic materials. The KN-95 mask depicted in this painting is made of " multiple layers of synthetic material (typically a polypropylene plastic polymer)". We breathe in the filtered air and bask in the knowledge that the virus' reach to us is hindered. I chose to go about the painting of this portrait as I would any other. This was to reinforce the idea of how normal wearing a mask has become. Synthetic Air gives the viewer an opportunity at introspection, to reflect on the changes in their personal lives brought about by the Pandemic. In viewing this painting comes a mutual empathy that crosses all borders and differences; that we are all deeply connected through the human condition. CREATOR'S CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY 3.
