Link to show the production of the creation (if any): Page 2 of 3 Freedom tells the story of the ladies who were brought to Mauritius to work on sugar cane plantations as slaves but eventually fled away from their masters. The picturesque setting appeals to our senses and suggests an idea of beauty and freedom in their most undisturbed representations. Beautiful silhouettes taking a bath without fear in the turquoise waters of the lagoon of the island and the wind brushing their skin with petals of flowers from the unique flamboyant tree in the shadow of a monument of its kind, "Le Morne Brabant" watching over them. The only onlookers are the little souls in the lagoon and the Mauritius Parakeet birds in the air. This art work commemorates the abolition of slavery in an unchained manner and is set in the shadows of the UNESCO World Heritage mountain " Le Morne Brabant". Mauritius is famous for its colours especially the Flamboyant tree which produces a red flower and in contrast a multi- toned blue of its lagoons, but also its history. In 1835, slavery was abolished in Mauritius but before that slaves who fled their masters hid on the Mountain. There is a legend that says slaves preferred to gave away their lives by jumping from the top of the mountain instead of being captured by their masters. Since this breeds so much sorrow, the painting brings about the post-slavery era, where Mauritians are happily blending with nature and enjoying freedom. CREATOR'S CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY 3.
